Nats 2007 R2

Day 2. Another flat triangle to the north was set at 94km. Some pilots were feeling nervous about the forecast of reasonable wind (like yesterday), yet all but two pilots decided to fly anyway. With a 20-knot wind (as forecast) it was, not surprisingly, a bit rough in the mountains and the task was stopped at 15:35. Many pilots had a bouncy ride down, although some were luckier with their chosen route and had a seemingly good time. Ron Richardson destroyed his glider and came down safely by parachute - not the first time he has parachuted at St. Andre. Jacques Bott (France, Atos VR) recovered safely from two tucks and later described it as the most turbulent air in his 32 years of flying. As more than an hour had elapsed the stopped task became validated but only scored up to the stop time of 15:35. George Shapland won the day in the flexwing class.
