BOS Round Three

3rd Round (Final) of the British Open Series 2010

Start : Sat 26th June Finishes Wed 30th June Venue: Mid Wales

Venue

This will be the same as for 2009 i.e. the Powis Arms in Lydbury North. This is now confirmed.
This event will be taking place in the Welsh Border Marches, from Sat 26th Jun to Wed 30th June inclusive with the HQ in the Powis Arms. We will be using sites belonging to the Lond Mynd Soaring Club , The Mid Wales HGPGC and the North Wales Club, according to availability and conditions.
Dave Bluett will be at the pub from Friday evening to upload competition waypoints to pilots’ GPS units and accept late entries.
There is a camp site attached to the Powis Arms, still only £5/person/night and it is recommended that you book in advance for this facility. Caravans (or electric hook up) will be £15 per night and rooms at the pub are still available at the time of writing. The cost of rooms will be discounted for any hang glider pilot staying there for the duration but you will have to ring the landlord to negotiate this yourselves. Gerry McLaren's number is 01588 680254 and his website is in the links below.

FAI Sanction

As well as being a standalone comp in the British Open Series and counting for the overall 2010 Series scores, this is a FAI Category 2 competition for both Class 1 (flexwing) and Class 5 (rigids). This means that if you have a current FAI Sporting Licence you can earn World Pilot Ranking Scheme (WPRS) points and you may also meet the entry requirements for a Category 1 (World or continental championship) if you place in the top 2/3rds of this meet. A minimum of 2 tasks are required to validate a Category 2 competition and there is also a minimum number of competing pilots; this is 15 for the flexwing comp (not a problem) and 6 for the rigids - and we do not always get this number.
